Hopefully, you’ve been reading up on the up on Patch 5.2, due out on Tuesday March 5, 2013! Why read patch notes?? So you can look forward to and prepare for the updated content, and most importantly, get familiarized with any class changes that may be have been made!
At the very least, you’ll want to read the Patch Notes and review what’s been changed for your class. Looks like rogues are finally getting some buffs and I’m holding my breath to see if the updates to Disc Priests will make them a bit stronger in PvP.
If you haven’t read the latest on currency conversions, definitely check out the latest news. Of particular note are the changes in 5.2 (and future releases) for PvP. When this patch hits, all Conquest Points will be converted to Honor and anything over Honor cap will be converted to gold. You’ll be able to purchase Malevolent gear with Honor Points. Gear will be available in four tiers:
- Dreadful Gladiator’s gear will be crafted. (5.2)
- Malevolent Gladiator’s gear, including weapons, will be purchased with Honor Points. (5.2)
- New tier of PvP items: Tyrannical Gladiator’s gear will be purchased with Conquest Points. (5.2)
- Tyrannical Gladiator’s gear can be purchased for Honor after 27,000 Conquest Points are earned for the season. (5.3)
- Elite Tyrannical Gladiator’s gear can only be purchased with Conquest Points after 27,000 Conquest Points have been earned for the season. (5.2)
- Conquest Point weapons can only be purchased after 7,250 Conquest Points have been earned for the season. (5.2)
Also, low-level battlegrounds will change in that your lvl will scale to the max for that bracket — so for the 20-24 bracket, everyone will scale as if they were lvl 24.
Valor Points were also supposed to be converted to Justice but they have redacted that and instead, are offering Valor items at a discount. It says so in the blue post. Therefore, hopefully you’ve stacked up on Valor Points, but have spent your Conquest Points on upgrading your current gear (since gear upgrading will go away with 5.2).
At the entrance to the Throne of Thunder, there will be a quartermaster there for the Shado-Pan Assault (a newly added faction which you can only earn rep for via doing said new raid). There’ll be a Valor reward you can buy at Neutral with the Shado-Pan Assault for 1250 Valor Points for an ilvl 522 neck piece!
- Destroyer’s Battletags
- Flanker’s Battletags
- Mender’s Battletags
- Striker’s Battletags
- Vanguard’s Battletags
For heroic dungeons and scenarios, you can now earn bonus reputation for your first dungeon and scenario of the day. When you go to queue up for it, you’ll be presented with a new interface where you’ll be able to select what faction you want to earn reputation for.
Lastly, as noted in What to do after you hit 90, you’ll also be able to raise reps via your farm @ Halfhill. You can take over the farm and make it your own, if you’re Exalted with the Tillers and have all 16 plots unlocked. Then, you’ll start a quest chain that will allow you to farm for work orders that will raise rep for various factions. Special crops will be buffed so that the rate of stuff that drops from them will be in line with what you’d normally get from straight up mining or skinning, etc.
Well, that’s a ton of stuff to summarize but those are the highlights of some of the changes with Patch 5.2!
